Artisan Hwang Moon Chul started Mannadang in 1963, and served his creations to the Blue House (President's residency), and to celebrations and feasts of numerous public figures and celebrities.He was trained by his master who learned the from the last head of royal kitchen of Joseon and the Empire of Korea, Han Hui Soon. Mannadang is now run by his son and wife, Hwang Ji Hyun, and Hong Jung Hwa.Made using same traditional methods as was made for kings and queens of JoseonEach yakgwa made by hand by the artisan, and can be seen by slight variations in shapeUses rice malt, instead of commonly used corn syrup
