Master of authentic traditional Korean culinary heritage, recognised by the South Korean government.
Many of them carry on generations of family history and expertise in their craft, dedicating their lives to preserve methods and tastes from the Joseon Dynasty, to share that story with you.
They are special, even in Korea, and their work cannot just be replicated by anyone, even if they had the recipes.
Only experts, and the dedicated are chosen.
- They must have continuously dedicated at least 20 years to their fields
- Or must be capable of preserving and making traditional foods with complete accuracy
- Or have been trained by another Grand Master for at least 5 years and have dedicated at least 10 years to their field
They face a rigorous selection process, passing through local, to ministry to jury before being selected.
There are only 83 active Grandmasters.
